Surreal black comedy and live music for all the family...

...featured today on Hot Pebbles! on Phonic FM along with tracks from quite a number of new musical releases.

Eddie Elks looked in to talk about the world premiere of his play Mugs Arrows running until 12 October at Exeter BikeShed Theatre.

Mugs Arrows is a surreal black comedy set in a pub and explores the themes of love, life, death and darts. Performed by Third Man Theatre, the play had a very promising first performance yesterday. Intrigued? Find out all about it here. For the full programme of events at the BikeShed Theatre visit their website.

Julie and Emma from Exeter Contemporary Sounds told us about an exciting new venture for young children and adults at Exeter Phoenix on the last Sunday of each month.

Earworms is a series of family friendly concerts featuring a wide range of musicians and genres beginning this Sunday 29 September at 14:00. For this concert, local choir Isca Voices will be singing alongside beat boxer Audible1 aka Alex Norgate.

The concerts will be family-friendly and will be presented by Mervyn Bedford

They run alongside the Family Sunday events at Exeter Phoenix.

Other Earworms events are planned for 27 October and 24 November and the latter event will feature music from Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman.

Up-to-date details along with the prices and ticket information are on the Earworms Blog.

Community

 Listen again here
Phonic FM is Exeter's community radio station and we broadcast lots of information about events in our community. On this Wednesday's Hot Pebbles! on Phonic FM, Martin Hodge welcomed Sue Taylor and Karl Zumar, two of the organisers of the St Thomas Community Festival in Exeter. Lots of fun things are happening this Saturday 14th September at St Thomas Pleasure Ground, Exeter.

We had excellent live music from singer, guitarist Karl Zumar too. He played Horizon and an untitled guitar piece.

Karl is the musical director of the festival which ensures a great programme of music there.
